Lymphatic Drainage for Post Op

What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Lymphatic Drainage or MLD / Manual Lymphatic Drainage is touch therapy that promotes the natural flow of fluids containing cellular waste, toxins, and other materials from the circulatory system to the excretory system. As your system processes these things, first passing through node sites, then through a few organs, it exits the body through the urinary tract.

What is the Lymphatic System and what does it do?
The lymphatic system is the unsung hero of our bodies. It is responsible for maintaining homeostasis of fluids from bone to skin. Secondly, it is responsible for recirculating blood after assessing waste materials, foreign materials such as bacteria, fungus, and viruses. Lastly, it has a direct role in bringing reparative materials to a damaged area for repair, such as in the case of recovering from accidental trauma and surgical procedures.
The Lymphatic System + Post Op Recovery
Part of the recovery process from bodily trauma and surgery is the noticeable swelling. Liposuction and Tummy Tucks are the top two most common forms of post surgical cases that we see. Clients often experience intense swelling that can be described as painful and tender, with other sensations of itching, tingling, and numbness. Often clients find it difficult to be independent, use the restroom, sleep comfortably, or even have difficulty breathing naturally and or standing normally. Lymphatic Drainage is known to be safe starting around the 4th day post op and is so mild and gentle, but known to be noticeably effective at reducing inflammation and tenderness, promote faster healing, and inducing better quality sleep during recovery. Clients often comment on seeing and feeling the noticeable changes in their body immediately after the session. Clients can expect to feel the urge to use the restroom pretty quickly after the session.
Our Methods
Although traditional MLD training is a popular standard for massage therapists (CMT's)  and Certified Lymphedema Therapists (CLT's), it does not include training in scar tissue management or the specific needs of plastic surgery patients overall.

What we do at Jungle + Grace Massage Studio is provide a customized experience that is less by the book and more by feel. Not only do we utilize not only Manual Lymphatic Drainage, but 15 years of hands on experience including other forms of soft tissue manipulation, orthopedic massage, myofascial release, scar tissue release, cupping, and vacuum therapy. We discovered many years ago that helping clients recovering from Plastic Surgery have presents unique needs that are not commonly addressed and sometimes non effective traditional lymphatic drainage training.

Not only are we recommended by surgeons and other services providers locally,  and as far as Miami and Mexico, but our unique methods are also sought out by massage therapists across the country for training and mentorship in the realm of post op care.
